HOW TO START A FOOD BLOG
1. DOMAIN NAME AND HOSTING
First, you need to come up with a domain name that is catchy, simple, and relevant to your blog. Our domain name describes our blog in three simple words: Creative, Family and Recipes.
If you’re having a hard time coming up with a domain name. I recommend writing down your blog description on a piece of paper and then look for keywords that best represent your site. That’s how I came up with our domain name. Take your time. Coming up with a good domain name is probably the most important part.
When you find a name you like. Go to HostGator – the click on “Get Started Now!”
It will take you to Web Hosting Plans. I suggest the Hatchling Plan for starters. I am currently on the Baby Plan and that is because I have more that one domain name. If you only plan on having one food blog, then Hatchling Plan is best for you. Upgrade is always an option in the future.
Your next step would be choosing a domain name for your food blog. I hope you already have one picked out by now. If the domain name of your choice is taken, HostGator will automatically give you a list of alternative domain names that pair with your first option. I recommend coming up with at least two or three solid domain names that you like incase your first option is taken.

2. INSTALLING WORDPRESS
Once you’ve completed registration with HostGator you’ll need to go through the process of installing WordPress. WordPress is the most popular blogging platform in the world. I use it on all of my blogs (Kitchen Remodeling Ideas , UkraMedia.com). It is so easy to install WordPress on your site.
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Login to your HostGator cPanel by going to yourdomainname.com/cpanel or cpanel.yourdomainname.com. My cPanel would be creativefamilyrecipes.com/cpanel or cpanel.creativefamilyrecipes.com.
Once you’re in, scroll down to Software/Services tab. Click on QuickInstall.
You will be re-directed to a new page. On the left sidebar, you will see a tab called Blog Software. Choose WordPress.
On the next page, simply click Continue.
Choose your domain name. Make sure to Enable Auto Upgrades. Finish filling out the form. Click on Install Now! and you’re finished!
Go to the link that Admin Area provides, which is YourDomainName.com/wp-admin.
Enter your Username and Password and you’re done! You now have a WordPress site. HostGator automatically gives you a generic password. I recommend changing it right away when you login.
